Furness Mark's Antique and Cheese and Wine evening went off very well. |
|
The Dalton-in-Furness Masonic Hall provided a cozy setting and the audience listened closely as the merits
of a dozen objects were pointed out by Howard Whittacker and partner Christine.

There were prints, embroidery, watches, a memorial case and even a victorian library chair which serves as
the Lodge Tyler's seat. Ken Jackson presented his father's watch and chain. The Albert Chain was of more
value than the watch and sported a 'dog tag' commemorating a trail hound called 'Nimble'. Prov JW Russ
Greenhow announced that Nimble' was a legendary dog among hound trailing circles and won races in the
late 1940's. The hound had been owned by Ken Jackson's Father.

Cheese was washed down by wine after which Howard rose to answer questions but soon treated the
audience to a series of anecdotes from his trade as valuer and auctioneer.
To round off the evening Keiron Mullan got his guitar out and got the audience singing.
He was then joined by Jim Atkinson on the accordion. On a quick count , the evening raised some |
|
£250 for the charities.
